It isn’t often that teen dramas/comedies get remade or rebooted, mostly because the same story is done again and again but rumors are quickly circulating that the 1999 hit She’s All That is in talks to be reworked.
On Tuesday April 7, The Wrap reported that The Weinstein Company and Miramax are beginning development on the remake with Kenny Leon directing and Spike Lee’s wife, executive producer Tonya Lewis Lee will be producing the film.
While the rumors have gone far enough to name a director and those involved, Miramax has denied that there is a deal for the film right now. Many are hoping that the rumors are true however, with fans even asking the original film’s star Freddie Prinze Jr. about the rumors on Twitter.
“You know, just Hollywood running out of ideas one more time. But what’s new? @RealFPJr,” which the actor responded back with, “tough for writers with original scripts.”
The 1999 film grossed more than $100 million worldwide starring Freddie Prinze Jr. as the All-American high school dream, Zack Siler, and the late Paul Walker as Dean Sampson, who make a bet involving the artsy loner Laney Boggs played by Rachael Leigh Cook.
The movie was stocked full of other 90s stars including Anna Paquin, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, Matthew Lillard, Usher, Lil’ Kim and Gabrielle Union.
