The Saved by the Bell reboot is adding two individuals with very famous last names!
Mitchell Hoog has joined the cast and he will portray Mac Morris, the handsome, charming, and privileged son of Governor Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar). Also, Belmont Cameli is cast in the role of Jamie Spano, a captain of the Bayside football team and Jessie Spano’s (Elizabeth Berkley) sensitive man-child son.
Last year, it was announced that Saved by the Bell alums Mario Lopez and Berkley would be reprising the roles that made them famous in the show’s original run, however, at this time it is unclear whether A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano are Jamie’s parents. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Gosselaar would return for at least three episodes for the reboot, and it unknown if his longtime love Kelly Kapowski is Mac’s mother. Tiffani Thiessen, who portrayed Kelly, is said to be in talks to reprise her role.
The Saved by the Bell reboot will focus on the story of what happened when California Gov. Zack Morris receives backlash for closing several low-income high schools and proposed that the affected students be sent to one of the highest-performing schools in the state – which includes Bayside High.
Two of the students affected by this proposal: Daisy – a smart, ambitious sophomore who is excited to attend Bayside High after her school gets shut down – will be played by Haskiri Velazquez, and Aisha – Daisy’s best friend, a girl who grew up playing on boys’ sports teams, who causes a stir when she tries to play football at Bayside – portrayed by Alycia Pascual-Pena.
In January, it was announced that Champions star Josie Totah will be starring in a lead role in the upcoming reboot series. Totah will play as beautiful and sharp-tongued cheerleader Lexi, who is considered to be the most popular girl in school, and is equally admired and feared by the students.
