After six years, a huge fan base, momentous highs and tragic lows, the cast of Glee officially finished filming on the series in late February prompting reflections and star Lea Michele making off with a precious memento.
From February 17 to February 22 Michele kept fans up to date with the bittersweet last week of filming through her Twitter account as she visited all of the iconic set places frequented by her character Rachel Berry.
“I can’t believe tomorrow is our last day at glee. It is going to be such an emotional day. But I’m so grateful though to have had…this incredibly amazing experience. Thank you so much to all of our amazing Gleeks who supported us so much! I love you guys. We were so lucky to have had the most amazing crew who worked so hard everyday to make the show amazing. I’m so grateful for them…So thank you all again so much from the bottom of my heart. I will miss Rachel Berry so much,” she posted in an emotional series of tweets.
On the last day Michele, 28, posted an even more heart wrenching photo which she captioned “One last thing,” showing her walking away with the framed jersey worn by Finn Hudson, the character played by her late boyfriend Cory Monteith.
Michele and Monteith had been dating for quite a while after meeting on set and were together when Monteith tragically passed away after an overdose in July 2013 at the age of 31.
Michele had a difficult time dealing with his death but in April 2014 she met her current boyfriend Matthew Paetz when they worked together on the set of her music video “On My Way.”
Glee’s two-hour series finale airs on March 20.
