As BH90210 ramps up filming in Vancouver, British Columbia, it has been confirmed that Power actress La La Anthony has been signed on to play Brian Austin Green’s wife Shay.
According to Deadline, the character of Shay is a hip-hop/pop superstar who “makes the money” while Green is a stay-at-home dad to their three kids. Of course, in real life Green is married to actress Megan Fox who has been bringing in most of the money as Green rarely acts anymore and stays home with their three children.
When Beverly Hills, 90210 came to an end, Brian Austin Green’s character David Silver was married to Tori Spelling’s Donna Martin but The CW’s 90210 reboot series established that Donna and David divorced after welcoming a daughter.
Of course, fans will have to remember that BH90210 isn’t exactly a reboot or revival because the original stars Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Shannon Doherty, and Jason Priestly aren’t playing their iconic characters but rather “heightened versions of the themselves” which is why Brian Austin Green (not David Silver) is married to La La Anthony’s Shay in the new series. Essentially the show is going to be an extreme version of a scripted reality TV series.
The original description from Fox for BH90210 reads: “The core cast will all play heightened versions of themselves in a brand-new serialized drama — with a healthy dose of irreverence – that is inspired by their real lives and relationships. Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast — whom the whole world watched grow up together — attempts to continue from where they left off?”
BH90210 will premiere on Fox in August for a six-episode run.
