Cavallari – who began her reality TV career as a teenager on MTV’s Laguna Beach – and her husband, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, filed for separation in April. The pair began dating in 2010 and got engaged the following year. They briefly called off their engagement in 2011 but reunited again just a few weeks later. Cavallari and Cutler tied the knot in 2013 and share three children: sons Camden, Jaxon, and daughter Saylor.

Although Very Cavallari focuses on Cavallari running her business, Uncommon James, it has also showcased the ups and downs of her marriage.

Season 2 of Very Cavallari featured a very memorable argument between the titular reality star and her husband. The pair were having dinner with friends, and Cutler, who appeared to be inebriated, told the entire group how Cavallari was not the breadwinner, but “the breadspender,” wasting their money, before he abruptly left the table. During a confessional interview, Cavallari said his remarks were “embarrassing.” Later on, Cavallari and Cutler reflected on how they had “switched roles”: When he was still professionally playing football he financially supported the family, while Cavallari was a stay-at-home wife. However, when he retired in 2017, Cavallari began to focus on her clothing and jewelry business – and didn’t feel as supported by him at home. In season 3 of Very Cavallari, the show covered the end of Cavallari’s friendship with longtime friend Kelly Henderson over rumors that she had slept with Cutler, which all parties have denied.

Just last month, sources revealed to people that there was friction between Cavallari and Cutler behind the scenes of Very Cavallari.

“Jay would make her cry all the time during production. He talked down to her and belittled her,” the source told PEOPLE. “She couldn’t take it anymore.”
