Supermodel Gisele Bundchen and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady have always seemed like the picture perfect couple, but the world soon realized it wasn’t as perfect as it seemed between the two celebrities when the word “divorce” was being thrown around in the tabloids earlier this year.
Bundchen, 35, opened up about her relationship for one of the first times while on CBS ‘s This Morning where she also discussed retiring from the her runway career after an incredible 13 years. Around the same time she retired, Brady’s drama on the field began resulting in the standup quarterback being suspended for four seasons, and although that was eventually overturned, the focus on his work life brought the spotlight to his home life, including apparent problems in his marriage.
“I think we’ve been through a few tough times together,” Bundchen said of the two working through it. “I think that’s when you know who are your friends and who loves you. My father always said the quality of your life depends on the quality of your relationships and I think, no matter how challenging it was, we’ve always been supportive of one another and I think that’s the most important think you can have in life, you know, a support system and love.”
She also went on to explain that one of those other tough times came before they were married and had just started dating and she found out Brady’s ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan was several months pregnant with Brady’s child. “It was a challenging thing because here I am, you know, thinking I’m dating this guy, you know, we met, we started dating, everything is great, and then this happens so I felt I didn’t know what to do,” she admitted. “Do I just run away?”
Clearly she didn’t and after three years of dating, the two were married in February 2009 and share two children together.
