Pop star Demi Lovato has battled a lot of demons for being only 22-years old, but she recently celebrated one of her biggest successes which was defeating her demons and staying sober for three years.
The singer took to her social media accounts to celebrate her accomplishment and thank everyone who has helped her. “I’m still catching up to texts and congrats tweets… Thank you everyone who has supported my journey. I never knew sobriety was possible for me. But with the love and support I’ve been given from my friends, fans, and family, I now celebrate my 3rd birthday. Thank you to everyone,” she wrote on Twitter.
Even though Lovato is very open about her struggles in order to help others going through the same thing, she has always kept her relationship with boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, 35, fairly private but he got his own special shout-out for the occasion on her Instagram.
Along with a picture of the two kissing, Lovato wrote “I wish I could put into words how grateful I am for this man right here. But my love has grown to a level that words could never possibly express how much this man completes me. He’s me the way I never thought I deserved to love and with this day marking my 3rd year sober…After sharing my ups, putting up with my downs and supporting my recovery… he still never takes credit and I want the world to know how incredible his soul is. I really wouldn’t be alive today without him. I love you Wilmer.”
On Wednesday March 18, Lovato will host her first annual Lovato Scholarship Benefit at L.A.’s Troubadour with proceeds from ticket sales going to The Lovato Treatment Scholarship -which provides funding for mental health treatment for those in need of financial assistance.
