Chris Pratt, 35, may have portrayed one of the biggest film heroes this year as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy but if you ask him, a real hero is his son, Jack Pratt, 2.

On Friday December 5, Pratt attended the March of Dimes Celebration of Babies in Beverly Hills and told reporters on the red carpet all about how his son Jack is quickly growing up.

“Every day is a new milestone. He’s starting to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. [He’s] very polite. He pointed out baby Jesus on our nativity. That was sweet,” the proud dad stated.

He also joked about the inevitable potty training, “That’s an adventure. [It’s] frustrating and rewarding all at the same time.”

While Jack is having a great childhood and Chris is more then happy to discuss his family, later in the night Pratt took to the podium to tell a touching story about Jack’s premature entrance into the world in 2012.

“Our little Jack didn’t want to be an October baby. He wanted to be born in summer, I guess. Anna woke me up in the middle of the night and she told me that her water had just broke. It was two and a half months early. Oh baby. Ready or not,” he began.

He then said that they had a goal to make it 30 more days to help both Anna and the unborn Jack but unfortunately that didn’t happen.

“We didn’t make it 30 days. We made it seven and then he came, just about nine weeks early and he’s 3lbs., 12 oz. Anna could hold him for a moment and then it was off to the NICU.”

Pratt also opened up about the emotional time in the hospital, waiting for Jack to grow stronger.

“It was just the best feeling I’ve ever had. My little boy just laying across my neck and my chest, and feeling my heart beat and feeling the love. I played him country music and I sang to him, and I made him promises in that moment…about what kind of dad I wanted to be and I just prayed that he’d live long enough to let me keep them.”

Now Chris and wife, Anna Faris, 38, have a rambunctious little boy on their hands after his tense start to life, “Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, smart, happy, funny and vocal boy,” Pratt shared.
