Charlie Hunnam hit a new level of stardom with FX’s hit series Sons of Anarchy and after the show ended it seemed Hunnam was going to keep the momentum going by signing on for the much buzzed about film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey.
As we all know, he backed out not long after but luckily, fans will be able to see him on their screens soon as he has taken on the role of King Arthur for Knights of the Roundtable. On March 10, director Guy Ritchie tweeted a picture of Hunnam as the legendary figure while on set in the U.K., “First day on KORT,” Ritchie wrote alongside the picture.
Although the 34-year old hunk turned down the role of Christian Grey, he recently stated he has no issue with baring it all on-screen, “The level of nudity that I do now, which is taking my shirt off, doesn’t bother me at all,” he told Elle Canada.
Hunnam went on to explain how he has gone without any clothes on screen before and even though it’s been awhile he isn’t against doing it again: “I think when I was young, I was a little bit more fearless with that stuff. I don’t know… I’m sure I would; I have nothing to hide.”
It won’t be required for his role as King Arthur but as a fitness buff, the actor is all about keeping himself in shape no matter what. “I tend to do whatever is appropriate for the character. You’re playing the character, so go do what the character does—it’s going to bring you closer to him. For Arthur, he’s a great fighter, so I’m going to be fighting in the gym. And when I’m in between jobs, I need to work out for my sanity. If I weren’t an actor, I’d be the fittest motherf–ker on the block.”
In the new take on the legends of King Arthur, Knights of the Roundtable, “introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Exaclibur.”
