Earlier this week news broke that pop star Taylor Swift, 26, and DJ Calvin Harris, 32, had split after a 15-month relationship. On Thursday, Harris publicly confirmed the break up.

On Twitter Harris wrote, “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.” Swift promptly retweeted Harris’ statement.

The news comes after speculation that the couple were on the rocks. In May, Swift co-chaired the Met Gala, but Harris was not present. Harris also didn’t attend the Grammys with Swift in February. Initially, reports claimed that Harris was “intimidated” by Swift’s success. A friend of Swift’s said he felt inadequate, and “would not attend any events where she was being honored, or any award shows unless he was nominated.”

Still, sources from People say that the relationship ended amicably with “no drama.” According to a friend of Harris, the DJ still holds Swift in high regard. “He very much admires her as a person and what she has been able to do with her career. This is what drew him to her in the first place,” the friend.
