7 Celebrities Who Don’t Eat Carbs

In Hollywood, carbs have a bad rap. When it comes to dieting, celebrities are quick to give up carbs in favor of protein-rich diets. While going a for carb-free diet will help you to lose weight, once you start eating carbs again, the weight quickly comes back. They’re an essential component of human nutrition, so it’s hard to imagine people avoiding them for the rest of their lives. We decided to take a look at which celebrities are endorsing no carb diets. Some of these celebrities have definitely been in-your-face about their diets while others have been more subtle.

7. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow claims that her entire family avoids eating pasta, bread and rice because they all have gluten intolerances. “Every single nutritionist, doctor and health-conscious person I have ever come across…seems to concur that (gluten) is tough on the system and many of us are at best intolerant of it and at worst allergic to it,” she wrote in her cookbook “It’s All Good.” “Sometimes when my family is not eating pasta, bread or processed grains like white rice, we’re left with that specific hunger that comes with avoiding carbs.”

6. Elle Macpherson

Elle Macpherson – who recently turned 50 – credits her low-carb, alkaline diet for her super fit physique and her ageless appearance. The alkaline diet, which advocates an 80/20 radio of alkaline to acid foods to create the optimal pH balance for good health, is based on the idea that optimal health comes from balancing the body’s pH by eating more fresh vegetables and fruit, as well as certain legumes, grains and nuts.

5. Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel doesn’t eat carbs and she avoids consuming processed foods. According to The Independent, she follows a paleo-style diet; however, the super fit actress makes sure to allow herself one day a week to eat whatever she wants. “You have to cheat once in a while. The trick is to know when to stop…When I’m working and I eat healthily all week, then I give myself one day – usually Sunday – when I eat just what I want,” Biel said.

4. Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox follows a low carb diet. “I drink a lot of coconut water. I don’t drink caffeine. I do drink decaf coffee-but it has to be with Coffee-mate Carnation fat-free vanilla milk,” the “Friends” star said. As part of her diet, Cox eats plenty of protein, including steak, chicken and fish. She doesn’t eat a lot of fruit, but she does eat a lot of vegetables like kale, spinach, broccoli and asparagus. According to her, if she could indulge, she would want eggplant lasagna.

3. Halle Berry

Halle Berry has to constantly monitor her to diet because of her diabetes. She uses a low carb diet because it provides the most benefits for glycemic control and it reduces cardiovascular disease risk. “Because I’m diabetic, I totally changed my diet and workout regimen a few years ago. I don’t eat fried foods or refined sugar – only natural sugar in fruit and vegetables. And I don’t eat carbs a lot,” the Oscar-winning actress said.

2. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian – who used the Atkins diet to lose 25 pounds after she gave birth to her daughter North a year ago – has sworn off carbs yet again. The reality TV star recently announced her decision via Twitter. “Not gonna complain anymore. Starting diet TODAY! No carbs. crazy workouts. Whos [sic] with me?” she wrote. “I think after having a baby u get so excited u lost a lot of weight then u get comfortable & eat how you used & it creeps back up.”

Megan Fox currently adheres to a strict, no carb diet. “I cut out all bread and those sort of carbohydrates. No crackers, no pretzels, no chips. Nothing unhealthy,” she told E! News. “The worst thing I put in my body is coffee, once a day.” Well that explains how she stays so slim!
