Many are still dealing with the shocking news of Bravo star and fitness expert Greg Plitt’s death on Saturday January 17 after he was struck by a Metrolink train in California.

While officials have definitely ruled the death an accident, many are wondering how it happened with the assumption he stumbled and fell onto the tracks however more reports indicate Plitt was actually trying to outrun the train.

TMZ reported that the 37-year old was trying to prove the effectiveness of a certain energy drink by consuming a large amount of it and then racing the train, in what apparently was supposed to be a commercial for the drink.

Law enforcement apparently told the site, “they have reviewed video of the accident and it shows Plitt standing on the tracks as the train barrels toward him. Shortly before the train reaches Plitt he assumes a runners stance and bolts down the track.”

Regardless of the motivation for shooting the video in the dangerous situation, a spokesperson for Metrolink stated he was not supposed to be out there at all.

“This was not an authorized shoot. We get two to three requests a month for filming and we go through a permitting process where we do a site check, put everyone through a detailed safety briefing and most importantly we have a flag man there with the crew on the day of filming. The flagman knows the schedule of the trains and communicates with operations, none of that occurred.”

Since his death many people of used the term “Superman” to describe Plitt including Bravo host Andy Cohen, Plitt’s own girlfriend Christina Stejskal and allegedly that was the point Plitt was trying to make, the energy drink makes you like Superman – faster than a speeding train.
