Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas is reportedly in final talks to join the highly-anticipated film The Matrix 4.
While the actress is reportedly close to finalizing a deal, details on her character are being kept under wraps, which is nothing new for the very secretive film.
Back in August it was reported that original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss had signed on to star in the film, making it the first Matrix film in 16 years after the release of The Matrix in 1999, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions in 2003.
It has also been confirmed that Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II have also been cast in the film, but Hugo Weaving will not be reprising his role as Agent Smith due to scheduling conflicts.
The studio also confirmed that Lana Wachowski, the co-creator of the original film, is set to write, direct and produce the fourth film.
“We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” added Wachowski. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
There is no release date as of yet for The Matrix 4.
