The long-awaited sequel to The Kissing Booth is almost here!
The Kissing Booth 2 will make its debut on Netflix on July 24, its star Joey King revealed in a live stream on Thursday, May 21. “That’s just days before my birthday. What a beautiful birthday present!” King said. “I’m so excited.”

King’s stream also included surprise video call-ins from the cast, never-before-seen deleted scenes from the first movie, trivia, and a fan Q&A.
The Kissing Booth premiered on Netflix in May 2018, and followed Elle (King), a teenager whose budding romance with high school senior and childhood friend Noah (Jacob Elordi) puts her lifelong friendship with Noah’s younger brother, Lee (Joel Courtney), in jeopardy. The movie was also a huge hit for the streaming service.
The sequel picks up with Noah attending Harvard while Elle is in her senior year of high school. The teen will have to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college with Lee, and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome new classmate named Marco (Taylor Perez). When Noah begins to grow close to a seemingly perfect girl (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and whom her heart actually belongs to.
Last year, King opened up to Entertainment Tonight about what she would like to see in The Kissing Booth 2.
“My character is so fun. She’s so strong-willed and just so much herself,” she shared. “I just want to see her grow and change, but not lose who she is, because she’s a really fun girl. I relate to her a lot.”
As for The Kissing Booth‘s potential to become a franchise, King was, at the time, optimistic it could happen. “I have no idea. I would love to see it go big and beyond,” she said. “I can’t wait for that to happen.”
