“Great question regarding my career in film,” Johnson wrote.

“Yup. The role was Jack Reacher. The actor was Tom Cruise,” he responded.

Alongside a video, the actor explained how he lost the role and the silver lining that came from it later.

“Now, the B-side of my answer, the truth is that in Hollywood, actors are kind of like in-a-box. There are actors that can vie for a particular role because it allows for them to have a certain look, skin color, size, etc. Fortunately, for me, there aren’t a lot of guys at all who look like me. So, all of my roles, from the beginning of my career, I’ve been a lucky son of a b–tch that they’ve been created and designed for me — except Jack Reacher,“ the Jumanji star said.

While he was disappointed by not landing the role he really wanted, Johnson “got a call from Universal Studios, saying, ‘Hey, we have this idea about you joining the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise.”

Johnson starred in Fast 5 as Luke Hobbes, a diplomatic security service agent. The film later went on to earn more than $600 million at the worldwide box office, which is three times as much as Cruise’s Jack Reacher made.
