For better or worse, Doug Davidson is a reliable presence on Twitter. So it came as a surprise when his first selfie in a long time looked, well, different!
Viewers don’t need reminding that they haven’t seen Davidson on The Young and the Restless (Y&R) in forever. But in case the CBS soap’s bizarre treatment of their iconic actor slipped anyone’s mind, Davidson’s selfie (featured below) will reveal how much time has passed.
“A change for a while,” he commented on the grizzled new look.

In the photo, Davidson has grown a blond and white speckled beard. Wearing a stylish black sweater, he looks as though he’s hunkering down for winter.
Perhaps that impression is stirred up by another tweet he issued that same hour. While retweeting a fan’s photo of himself with co-star Lauralee Bell (Christine) from 2019, he wrote in the caption, “Just before I got fired!”.
When another fan looked for clarification, asking if he’d been fired or merely not called back, Davidson offered what happened. “Well, first they took me off contract, then they didn’t call me in,” the actor replied with a laughing emoticon.
The absence of Paul Williams has become a mystery for Y&R viewers, who cannot understand what Davidson did to deserve this kind of silent treatment.
As far as we’re concerned, Doug’s new look perfectly suits Genoa City’s police commissioner!
