Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law and Jason Statham are just three of the stars who will be appearing together in Paul Feig’s new comedy, Spy.
While at first glance the cast may seem odd, Hollywood resident funny woman McCarthy, kick-a– action star Statham and romantic comedy darling Law, the trailer looks quite promising.
McCarthy plays Susan Cooper who joins the CIA in hopes of being less boring, only to become an analyst and have to sit by while other agents (Law and Statham) complete all the missions.
However, when Law’s character goes missing and Statham’s character is compromised, the CIA (led by Allison Janney) explains, “we need someone invisible.”
As can be predicted with Cooper at the center of the mission and a less adept agent than her fellow colleagues, hilarity ensues as she takes on the identity of a divorced housewife from Iowa.
This film will be the third time actress McCarthy and director Feig have teamed up following the successes of Bridesmaids and The Heat, with early reports also indicating that both may be involved in a highly buzzed about Ghostbusters remake.
In order to promote the film, McCarthy has also joined the world of social media through Twitter, posting her first Tweet on January 13 and stating in true McCarthy humor, “Good morning, Twitter! Is this thing on? #hashtag.”
Spy hits theatres in May 2015 and also has roles from 50 Cent, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale.
