The actor most recently received widespread acclaim for his role in Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory. His other recent acting credits include Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat and Terrence Malick’s Knights of Cups. Banderas has a long-standing working history with Song Pictures, having starred in Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, The Mask of Zorro, and The Legend of Zorro. The actor recently made his directorial debut with Crazy in Alabama for Sony Pictures. Banderas will be next seen on the big screen in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard opposite Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson, and is currently filming the Spanish flick Competencia Oficial with Penelope Cruz.
Holland is still attached to portray as Nathan Drake and Wahlberg as Sully. The Uncharted video games chronicled the adventures of Nathan as a charismatic treasure seeker and semi-con-man who travels the world and mentors Sully in pursuit of legendary riches while solving history’s biggest mysteries. However, based on the casting, the film will center on a younger Nathan. In Uncharted 3, a flashback sequence shows Nathan as a kid when he first meets Sully.
After many directors being on board and then exiting the project, Venom director Reuben Fletcher will direct the Uncharted movie.
The Uncharted movie is set to be released on March 5, 2021.
