The 2018 Golden Globes made the fashion statement of the century as star after star stepped out onto the glamorous red carpet wearing all black attire. The sea of black stood for a powerful symbol of gender equality, support and respect within the Hollywood film industry and represented a critical moment of change that will undeniably go down in history. Despite the monochrome color palette, a truly outstanding dress will always stand out from the rest and there were undeniably a few icons who made this happen on last night’s star-studded red carpet. 16. Zoe Kravitz

Zoe Kravitz kept her look extremely minimal and sleek last night with a simple strapless column-style dress. The shape of the dress was flattering with its clean lines and hugged her figure in all the right places. For a bold punch of color, Kravitz donned a pair of emerald green gemstone earrings. The color emerald symbolizes hope, renewal and the future, which is why many stars were spotted wearing jewelry in this rich shade last night!

Meryl Streep looked elegant as ever last night in her midnight black off the shoulder gown! The look was crisp, clean and showed the perfect amount of skin to be a little sultry but still age appropriate and graceful.  She sleeked her hair in a bouffant style updo and left her makeup rosy, glowing and natural.

Mandy Moore opted for a pop of color with her halter-style gown for the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet! The look featured an elegant Cinderella-style shape that was cinched at the waist by a chunky red sash. The neckline was halter-style and wrapped around her neck to drape down into an elegant cape. To bring out the pop of red on her gown, Moore rocked a scarlet red pout and matching bobble earrings.

Emma Stone was a red carpet all-star in 2017 and landed many best-dressed red carpet moments under her belt! Luckily, 2018 is seeming to be just as promising for Stone as she stepped out on the Golden Globes red carpet wearing this one-shoulder lace gown. The look featured a ruffled shoulder and subtle sparkle throughout which made it look glamorous and red carpet worthy. She sleeked her locks into a side-parted elegant updo and paired the look with sparkling silver sandals.

Alexis Bledel was graceful, elegant and sophisticated on last night’s Golden Globe red carpet where she opted for a pantsuit instead of a classic dress! The look featured a white strapless bodice that was embellished with textured leaf detailing over one shoulder and a flowing glittering sash hanging from one hip. The look was bold without being over the top and definitely made the elegant Bledel stand out in the sea of black.

I, Tonya star Margot Robbie looked absolutely gorgeous on last night’s red carpet where she stepped out wearing a quite avant-garde style dress. She was rumored to be battling the flu in the midst of the show, but by the looks of her red carpet appearance, you would have no idea! The star wore a satin Gucci gown that featured exaggerated padded shoulders and 3D floral and crystal embellishments. She wore her hair in classic waves and donned a bold red lip to top it off.

9. Allison Janney

Allison Janney wore an intricate black and white cutout design that was both demure yet sexy! The Mario Dice gown featured a butterfly-inspired dress and interlocked cutouts covering the entire bodice and trailing down her arms and hips. The look was undeniably unique, which definitely made Janney stand out in the sea of all black ensembles.



8. Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson wowed at the 2018 Golden Globes where she stepped out in a voluminous gold embellished number! The custom Christian Siriano design featured a wide-neckline that was embellished asymmetrically with a gold texture detail on one shoulder. The other side of the dress featured a full gold sleeve that balanced the dress nicely and added an extra pop of color and texture. She sleeked her hair back in an elegant updo to show off her shoulders and wore her makeup in a midnight smokey eye with glowing cheeks.

Issa Rae definitely made an impression when she stepped out in a sparkling liquid gown designed by Prabal Gurung! The dress featured an ultra-low neckline and accent floral ruffles on the shoulders. The look combined a dramatic train with a thigh-high slit which definitely balanced each other out nicely for this best-dressed moment. For jewelry, Issa Rae opted for the classic emerald stone in a dramatic diamond necklace.

Kerry Washington stunned last night when she stepped out wearing this sparkling number designed by Prabal Gurung! The look featured a straight cut strapless neckline and a cinched, ruffled detailing along the hip which flattered her tiny waist. The dress featured a thigh-high slit which perfectly showed off her sheer bootie heels with floral and check embellishment.

Catherine Zeta-Jones turned heads for all the right reasons at last night’s Golden Globes! The striking Zuhair Murad design she wore featured a plunging neckline and sheer lace and polka dots throughout. The semi-sheer glitzy gown showed skin in all the right places with strategically placed lace but was by no means over the top. She left her hair in wild waves and topped the look with bold drop-style emerald earrings.

Reese Witherspoon absolutely glowed on last night’s red carpet where she kept her look surprisingly minimal yet still stole the show! The sleek look featured an asymmetrical neckline and a body-hugging mermaid fit. For added detail, the dress featured a pop of satin overlay across the neckline. The actress tucked her sunny blonde locks behind her ears and paired the minimal dress with drop-style diamond earrings.

Alicia Vikander proved to be a fashion icon in 2017, and with this particular red carpet look, we have no doubts that 2018 will be just as inspiring! Vikander stepped out wearing an ultra feminine frock that was demure, semi-sheer and glitzy. The dress featured a high neckline and long sleeves, but the sheer, wispy material along the skirt nicely balanced the modesty of the top. She sleeked her hair into a crisp updo which truly allowed all the intricate sparkle, embellishment and details of the gown to shine!

Jessica Biel looked absolutely dazzling on the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet where she donned a princess-style Dior gown. The look featured a sweetheart neckline and was covered entirely in sheer black tulle over a nude underlay. For an extra dose of unique detail, the dress featured a flattering velvet detail which curved over the front of the dress. Biel pulled her hair back into an elegant updo and added a punch of color with a berry-tinted lip.

Of all the stunning red carpet dress moments last night, Dakota Johnson landed herself in the top spot! Although the front of her gown was relatively simple with a straight-cut neckline, dainty spaghetti straps and a minimalistic sparkling broach, the back of her dress was truly inspiring! The back featured a crystal-embellished bow design that trailed into a spattering of sparkles all along the back of her dress and left us absolutely speechless.
