Rapper Kanye West, 37, definitely has a huge fanbase who worship him but even they have to admit his attitude and arrogance have become absurd over the years, often making many people despise instead of love him.
While that has been the Kanye we have come to know, a much different and mild-mannered Kanye is who showed up to an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday January 29 where he discussed how marriage and fatherhood has changed him for the better.
“I’ve definitely learned how to compromise more. Which is something you have to understand when you partner with people in business,” he stated of his marriage to reality star Kim Kardashian.
He then went on to explain in what ways he has changed as a photo of him and Kardashian at their wedding popped up on the screen. “And I’ve learned how to shut up more. Yeah, I think I’m a better human being because of her, and because of my daughter.”
“I always have someone to think about going home to,” he continued of his attitude change. “And, you know, something for me to be brave for what I want to do for humanity, but also to be more protective of myself for my family too. Cause there are things I’ve done in the past that were considered a negative, but I was really jumping in front of the tank for other people or for culture in a way, so now I always have to have that in my mind that I have a family that I have to protect too.”
DeGeneres then noted that she can see the change as well, “You are calmer, I think. You don’t seem like, angry. And I think your emotions are grounded in a way that come out in protection and love. They’re channeled a different way.”
West then explained what he thinks was going on behind his outbursts, “I think I was going through my version of the terrible twos. My daughter, she wants to express herself, and she just doesn’t have the words for it. And for me, there was so many things I wanted to do with film and clothing, and I just didn’t have the words or the resources or the backing or the perception that I could do it being that I was a rapper.”
West also agreed to Kim’s recent comments that they are trying for another child as soon as possible which seems to be the best thing for the now happy, softer and family-oriented rapper.
