Sophia Bush To Star In CBS Medical Drama Pilot ‘Good Sam’

Sophia Bush has signed on for the lead role in the CBS pilot drama Good Sam.

The medical drama will follow talented yet quiet heart surgeon Sam (played by Bush) as she embraces her leadership role after her renowned and arrogant boss, Griff (casting to be determined), falls into a coma. When Griff awakens and wants to resume surgery, however, she must supervise the impossible to please individual who never acknowledged her talents – who also happens to be her father.

Good Sam marks the second pilot season in a row Bush as signed off on to lead a CBS project, the other being the drama pilot Surveillance from last year.

Bush is best known for her role on the CW drama One Tree Hill, where she appeared on nearly 200 episodes. She also appeared in the NBC drama Chicago P.D. from 2014 to 2017, and starred on both of the other NBC Chicago series as well as Law & Order: SVU as Det. Erin Lindsay. Her recent television acting credits include This Is UsJane the Virgin, and the upcoming Hulu series Love, Victor. As for her featured film acting credits, she recently appeared in films such as The Incredibles 2 and the Acts of Violence.

Good Sam is penned and executive produced by Katie Wech, with Jennie Snyder Urman and Joanna Klein acting also as executive producers under their Sutton St. Productions Banner, CBS Television Studios, where Sutton St. Productions Banner, who is in an overall deal, will produce. Snyder Urman and Wech previously worked together on Jane the Virgin.
