Beloved actor and comedian Bill Cosby, 77, best known as the funny, warm-hearted and loving father Cliff Huxtable on the sitcom The Cosby Show is facing severe allegations after several victims have come forward claiming they have been raped and sexually abused by Cosby over the years.

As a result of the accusations NBC has canceled their plans for a new comedy series that would star Cosby.

As the network host for The Cosby Show which ran from 1984-1992, NBC had plans to bring Bill back to primetime with a show that would once again cast him as the patriarch, but this time of a multi-generational family.

NBC has now stopped development on the program originated by Glee’s Mike O’Malley and Mike Sikowitz.

NBC’s announcement comes shortly after Netflix decided to postpone a comedy special featuring Cosby called Bill Cosby 77 which was supposed to be available on Netflix November 27.

Since comedian Hannibal Burress called Cosby a rapist during a routine, allegations have resurfaced from several women, and most recently Janice Dickinson gave an interview telling of her abuse at the hands of Cosby.

Even though multiple women have come forward, Cosby’s lawyer is adamant about his client’s innocence stating, “Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true.”

Meanwhile Cosby is continuing on his stand-up comedy tour in which reportedly no venue has cancelled his appearance due to the allegations although several interview spots with the comedian have been cancelled including The Late Show with David Letterman and The Queen Latifah Show.
