The Monday, October 14 episode of Dancing With the Stars was one of the most anticipated nights of each season — Disney Night!
After a magical opening number from the pros and dance troupe, the night went on to celebrate some of Disney’s most beloved characters including from classics like Toy Story, Cinderella, The Lion King and more.
Once again Sean Spicer and Lindsay Arnold found themselves on the bottom of the score board after they danced a Toy Story inspired quickstep to “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Spicer dedicated his performance to his late father who passed away from cancer in 2016 and although he earned his first 7 of the season, he ended with only a 19 out of 30.
Karamo and Jenna Johnson took on a samba to “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” from The Lion King, but unfortunately the judges weren’t ready to call him dance floor royalty. The pair earned a 21 out of 30.
Country star Lauren Alaina transformed into The Little Mermaid‘s Ariel for a samba to “Under the Sea.” “I liked the fact there was a lot of samba content in there,” said Goodman. “You went a bit weird a couple of times and lost count,” continued Tonioli. Lauren and Gleb ended with a 23 out of 30.
Actress Kate Flannery definitely had the best entrance of the night as she flew in as Mary Poppins! Flannery and Pasha Pashkov danced a jazz to “Spoonful of Sugar,” and made it to the middle of the pack with a score of 24. Also scoring a 24 was Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Val Chmerkovskiy. The duo were Cinderella and Prince Charming as they danced a Viennese waltz to “A Dream is a Wish Your Heartt Makes.”
Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten channeled their inner Jasmine and Aladdin for their foxtrot, which earned them rave reviews from the judges. “You took my breath away.” “Hannah you are a lovely dancer,” said Goodman. The pair ended with a score of 25 out of 30.
Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson pulled away from Hannah and Alan by only one point as they scored a 26 for their jazz step to “We’re All in This Together,” from High School Musical. Meanwhile James Van Der Beek earned his first 9s of the season to also score 26 for his Pirates of the Caribbean themed Paso Doble with Emma Slater.
Finally, it was Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber who danced their way to the top to the title song from Beauty and the Beast. “It was one and a half minutes of absolute happiness,” said Tonioli. “You’re such an honest performer.” “You’re dancing through your heart … and it feels fantastic,” said Inaba. The pair earned a 27 out of 30.
At the end of a magical night, Tom Bergeron then had a twist for all the contestants — no one was being sent home and everyone was moving on to the following week!
