MTV VMA Awards 2017: 5 Best Dressed Stars
The MTV Video Music Awards has always been known for it’s over the top and intriguing fashion moments. Although we saw quite a few unfortunate awards show looks last night, there were definitely some that left us awe-struck and inspired. With Katy Perry leading the pack and hosting the awards show we were admittedly holding our breath to see the extravagant look she would be rocking after seeing some of her previous over-the-top looks, but we were pleasantly surprised! To see her look along with our selection of other top fashion moments from last night’s VMA’s, follow along below:
5. Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld’s Grecian-inspired Atelier Versace dress was the perfect amount of boldness without being too much! The smokey turquoise shade of the dress flattered Steinfeld’s dark features and olive complexion flawlessly. The dress had a flashy cutout along her rib cage and the hemline was flattering and showed off her slender, long legs. We love the intricate pleating of this dress and thought this polished fashion moment definitely made a lasting impression long after the awards show concluded!
4. Yara Shahidi
Seventeen-year old Yara Shahidi stunned in this gold, belted number by Zimmermann! This young actress looked radiant in this particular shade of gold and we love the one shoulder detailing which featured an oversized bow that flared out into dramatic draping. She paired the look with matching tassel earrings and pulled her hair back into a low ponytail to allow the flattering neckline of the dress to shine. Yara is undoubtedly a young fashionista in the making after witnessing this winning fashion moment!
The A-line feathered frock by Monique Lhuillier that Lorde rocked last night was a definite show stopper. The dress was dramatic enough that she made a bang when she stepped out, yet was still clean and minimalist with it’s pale coloring and simple shape. This lavender color flattered Lorde’s porcelain skin tone and the wispy feathered skirt was delicate and endearing. This dress also marked quite the transition from the dark, gothic-inspired looks we’ve previously seen her in and we have to admit this girly and classy look definitely suits her!
2. Hailey Baldwin
Hailey Baldwin dazzled on the red carpet in this shimmery, nearly-naked jumpsuit designed by Zuhair Murad. The icy silver garment paired flawlessly with Baldwin’s ash blonde hair and the low-neckline was the perfect amount of revealing. We love how she tried a new attempt on the classic shimmery gown by instead opting for a pantsuit! The sheer look was dramatic and intriguing but still dainty, which we think is a crucial combination in creating a winning red carpet look.
1. Katy Perry
Last but obviously not least… Katy Perry’s long anticipated VMA look that has scored her the top spot on our best-dressed list! Known for her outrageous and over-the-top looks, Perry stepped out in something clean and flattering that we did not expect. The evening’s host rocked a sleek and crisp white gown that hugged her curves in all the right places. She stayed true to her dramatic side by featuring a uniquely shaped and geometric plunging neckline and a glamorous cape detailing over one shoulder. The asymmetrical dress was undeniably eye-catching yet still elegant and polished. Amazing job Katy Perry, we definitely approve and hope to see more of your fresh elevated style in the future!
