The 57th Annual Grammy Awards are quickly approaching on Sunday February 8 and CBS has been slowly been making announcements on who will perform during one of the music industry’s biggest nights.
Huge names across all genres have been confirmed including AC/DC, Ariana Grande, Madonna, Sam Smith, John Legend and Miranda Lambert, but of course what would be a music awards show without a performance from one of the biggest pop stars in the world, Taylor Swift?
Looks like everyone is going to find out as Swift, who is up for three awards, announced that she will not be one of the big acts taking the stage at the Staples Center.
On February 2 Swift took to her Tumblr page for “Grammy Talk!” where she wrote, “I’m really excited to be nominated for 3 Grammys this year and even more excited that I’ll be there having a dance party/rage fest in the audience. I will also be presenting the award for Best New Artist. Since my whole life is wrapped up and entangled in the planning of The 1989 World Tour right now, I’m not going to be performing on the Grammys this year. I need this time to focus only on the tour.”
Swift only has three months before embarking on her massive tour starting May 5 in Japan and while fans may be disappointed they won’t hear any of her hits at the awards show, those attending one of her tour concerts will be excited to learn she will be joined by Haim for some of her stops.
Swift and the band Haim are good friends and after spending a week of vacation together in Hawaii Taylor announced, “HAIM IS JOINING THE 1989 TOUR THIS IS NOT A DRILL I REPEAT HAIM IS JOINING THE 1989 TOUR @haimtheband.”
