The brief marriage between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth is officially over.
According to legal documents, the former pair were officially declared single again on Tuesday, January 28. The divorce proceedings were very straight forward for the two stars as there were no “community property assets or liabilities” created during the course of their marriage, and neither is seeking spousal support.
After a decade of an off and on relationship, the pair got married in a surprise ceremony at their home in December 2018. Unfortunately only eight months later, Hemsworth filed for divorce from Cyrus in August 2019 citing “irreconcilable differences.”
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” a rep for Cyrus said in a statement at the time confirming the split. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
After their split, Cyrus was linked to reality star Katilynn Carter, but after the relationship came to an end, the former Hannah Montana star has been in a relationship with longtime friend Cody Simpson. “We just have a ball and that’s the most important part of a relationship,” Simpson said in October 2019. “We both met back in the day when we were partying a lot. We had a lot of fun then … but now we’ve found each other in a space where we’re not partying, working real hard and just like [to] keep things healthy.”
Meanwhile, Hemsworth has been dating new girlfriend, model Gabriella Brooks since December 2019. Shortly before the holidays, the actor was seen introducing Brooks to his parents in Byron Bay, Australia where Hemsworth has been spending a lot of his time with his family and brother Chris Hemsworth since his split from Cyrus.
