Many people have offered up their commentary on Uma Thurman’s “transformation” after her appearance on the red carpet for her miniseries, The Slap.

The 44-year old actress looked so different, everyone instantly cried “plastic surgery” even though Thurman has for years be renowned for her natural beauty and some cosmetic surgeons even gave their professional opinion, agreeing that it looked as though she had work done.

Thankfully Thurman’s makeup artist Troy Surrat spoke out, denying any surgery rumors and explaining how it was just the makeup style he used that made her look different from what many are used to. “Frankly I’m quite surprised by the conversation […] it’s only makeup, at the end of the day it all washes off.”

On Thursday February 12, the the buzzed about actress spoke out about all the controversy herself while on the Today show with Savannah Guthrie.

“I know I look weird! I don’t know, I guess nobody liked my makeup,” Thurman stated. “I’ve been doing this for years and years and years, and people say things nice and they say things mean, and it’s just like, whatever. You take the good with the bad.”

Thurman looked like her “normal” self again for the interview, proving it really was all due mostly to the fact that she had almost no eye makeup on at all and clearly she was not phased by the media uproar at all.
