It’s official, Theresa and Larry Caputo of TLC fame are calling it quits after 28 years of marriage as Theresa has filed for divorce months after the pair began their trial separation.
According to reports, while the news is only surfacing now, Caputo, 52, actually filed the documents back on April 16, 2018 which was four months after the pair released a statement in December announcing they had split. “After 28 years of marriage, we have decided to legally separate. We will always love each other and our two wonderful children. We are united in supporting each other and our family. Please respect our privacy during this time,” the Long Island Medium stars said in a statement.
They share two adult children: Larry Jr., and Victoria.
Although the news is disappointing for many fans of the couple, it certainly isn’t surprising as Larry Caputo recently opened to TMZ confirming that they were indeed moving towards divorce and not a reconciliation and were living on opposite coasts as he had moved to L.A. and she stayed in New York.
Larry further shocked fans when he then added that he was already in a new relationship, saying, “I have moved on I’m fortunate enough to say that I have met someone special. But I’ll just leave it at that for now.”
“I’ve been here 9 months now,” he told the outlet. “The separation was a three-month trial period and we’ve moved on from that point. We’re in divorce proceedings. That’s been going on for the last six months. It’s not finalized, I don’t know when it will be. But that’s where we’re at. ”
“I know she’s doing well. I’m happy — we’ve moved on with our lives,” he added.
