Kylie Jenner is known for her love of selfies and, while she posts quite a few to social media every day, there is one in particular that seems to be gaining a lot of attention.
A mini-feud boiled on social media after the 17-year old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing her hair in cornrows along with the caption, “I woke up like diss.”
Many people were angry about the post, which caused a racially charged debate that ended up including another celebrity, The Hunger Games star Amandla Stenberg who played Rue in the franchise. “When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use your position of power to help black American by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter,” Stenberg commented on the photo.
Instead of apologizing or addressing the bigger issue, Jenner replied, “Mad if I do… mad if I don’t. Go hang w Jaden or something,” referring to Stenberg’s relationship with Jaden Smith who took Stenberg to her prom back in May. Kylie also has history with Jaden. They were rumored to have dated awhile back.
Stenberg didn’t publicly reply back to Jenner and Jaden also did not get involved. The feud has not continued, but there are still split opinions on whether Jenner’s hairstyle is in fact racist.
