Jennifer Lawrence Wants “Fat” Ban

s_bukley / Shutterstock.comJennifer Lawrence sat down with Barbara Walters recently to offer a candid interview, and the 23 year old Oscar winner touched on everything from career momentum to societal issues.

Within her sit-down, Jennifer offered a few words on mainstream media and the use of the word “fat.” In fact, Lawrence thinks that the word should be banned. No, not a ban in terms of describing foods, or biological fuel sources, rather when describing people–especially in the media. The young movie star makes a point that other things–such as curse words and cigarettes–are banned for the good of society, especially the impressionable youth, and yet people can be lambasted for being overweight when they live a life in the public arena.

Jennifer is hammering on a foundation with this statement that is much larger than using the word “fat.” It’s generally about kindness, and building good will, as opposed to resorting to cattiness for laughs and ratings. Jennifer even admits to being guilty of it herself, and suggests that we all are. Such humility makes this woman that much more endearing. Can they give her an Oscar this year… just because?

Jennifer Lawrence enjoyed this interview as part of Barbara Walters “10 Most Fascinating People of 2013.” She was on the list with the likes of the Royal Baby, Miley Cyrus, Pope Francis, Edward Snowden and Duck Dynasty’s Robertson Family.  Walters list has become one of the most anticipated year-end television programs since she premiered the “10 Most Fascinating” in 1993.
