The biggest stars in Hollywood both from TV and movies converged on the red carpet at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 20 for the biggest night in television, the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. While the heat was sweltering and the stars were sweating, many still braved the red carpet in long gowns and perfect fashion picks for the event. While, overall, the night wasn’t an overall success with fashion, a few celebrities definitely stood out with their looks from risk-takers wearing shiny metallic and those going for the classic gown, these five stars look absolutely gorgeous.

5. Lady Gaga

When it comes to red carpet fashion and Lady Gaga, no one is sure what to expect after quite a few out of this world style choices and, of course, the meat dress. That’s why when the singer stuck to a simple, yet elegant look she really had heads turning. She stunned in a one-shouldered Brandon Maxwell long black dress matched with an sleek bob and Lorraine Shwartz Diamonds. Of course, it had to be unique and coutoure making her stand out with a hip embellishment to complete the fashionable look.

4. Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts is making her way back to the small screen with a starring role in Scream Queens, but she already has people buzzing with her gorgeous red carpet style. The young star donned a beautiful pale pink Jenny Packham gown with a deep-V front and belted waist. Along with her side-swept long blonde hair and simple, yet sparkling silver jewlery, Robert really pulled off the classic old-school Hollywood look.

3. Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara isn’t a big risk taker with her red carpet looks, but it isn’t necessary when you are as stunning as she is. The Modern Family star did not disappoint yet again wearing a body-hugging silver hued St. John gown. Vergara knows what works best on her body, which was shown off with this reverse-scooped strapless dress which accentuated her famous curves. She matched the look with Lorraine Schwartz diamonds and long flowing locks keeping her look simple but still amazing. She said she had never worn a St. John dress before, but was impressed by it, calling it “very elegant.”

2. Kerry Washington

Scandal star Kerry Washington was one of the stars who decided to take a risk with her red carpet fashion, and it definitely worked! While she always shines on the red carpet, her mesh Marc Jacobs made that happen for real thanks to its metallic design. Of course no one else was going to copy this look either as the piece was only featured on the runway three days earlier during New York Fashion week. While it looks hot and heavy, the star assured the media the mesh design was keeping her cool. “It has a lot of holes in it […] and it’s working. I’m feeling the breeze in all the right places.”

1. Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland ditched her usual fun and flirty look for something more elegant at the Emmys and did it ever pay off. The 24-year-old Modern Family star donned a long burgandy Zac Posen gown with an inverted scoop neckline similar to her co-star Sofia Vergara’s gorgeous look. She may have been one of the first to arrive at the red carpet, but she was definitely the most memorable with her style choice, not to mention her makeup and hair were done to perfection. The style and fit always elongated the petite star, making her a definite red carpet winner.
