An often underappreciated force behind a celebrity’s acclaimed personal style is the Hollywood stylist behind the scenes crafting their look. Whether for casual coffee runs or red carpet glamour, it is more than likely that the celeb outfits we gawk over have been carefully selected by a stylist rather than the celeb themselves. With the high demand for celebrities to make frequent appearances that require them to look their absolute best, stylists definitely have their work cut out for them in the world of Hollywood. We at Fame10 couldn’t help but wonder about the drama involved behind the scenes of a worst-dressed look. Whose is really to blame in these situations – the celebrity or the stylist? Read below for the most shocking details behind celebrity/stylist scandals and breakups:

8. Sofia Vergara and Deborah Wankin

When it comes to stylists, Sofia Vergara has proved she is nearly impossible to please. In 2013, the NY Post reported that Vergara fired her stylist Deborah Wankin. Vergara joked on Chelsea Lately that everyone including both her stylist and publicist should be “fired” after the star forgot to wear her engagement ring during the appearance. “Oh my god, everybody’s fired! My assistant! My publicist! They let me out with no jewelry! I have never done this! Do I have underwear on? I feel naked!” the star teased on set; however, reports have proven that this story rings closer to the truth than Vergara let on with her humorous tone.

7. Tamar Braxton and DiAndre Tristan

In a series of social media posts, Tamar Braxton spoke out against rumours claiming her stylist DiAndre Tristan was working for free. According to celebrity blogger Funky Dineva, Braxton was angered after DiAndre requested a contract in writing for her work. Braxton posted a highly unsubtle Instagram post in response to the rumours with the caption, “I HATE when people try to act GRAND now that they feel like the “made it”… when we met you had 1 client!!! Now you have “contracts” and a “manager”… but you have 5 clients… 4 clients cause I’m sleep.”

6. Anne Hathaway and Rachel Zoe

A celebrity stylist who has caused quite a bit of stir in Hollywood is the ever-popular Rachel Zoe. The Hollywood Report claimed in 2014 that Anne Hathaway was no longer a client of Zoe after 10 years of working together. It was made evident that Hathaway switched stylists when she emerged in a fresh style shift towards a darker, more menswear-inspired wardrobe after moving on to stylist Penny Lovell. The details of the split remain unknown, but Us Weekly reported that the split was peaceful on both ends leaving no bad blood between the former duo.

5. Kate Middleton and James Pryce

According to reports in the UK newspaper The Telepath in 2013, Kate Middleton supposedly cut ties with her hair stylist James Pryce after he used photos of her to promote his hair business. Pryce styled Middleton’s iconic demi-chignon hair style on the day of her wedding and he noted this as “the most important day of [his] career.” The Duchess of Cambridge was not impressed with his non-discreet social media postings and slowly turned her business towards Richard Ward and Amanda Cook Tucker to help style her hair for events.

4. Nicki Minaj and Terrence Davidson

In an attempt to change directions with her current look, reports claim that Nicki Minaj fired her entire glam squad and long-time hairstylist Terrence Davidson who were responsible for crafting her signature out of the box style. Minaj claimed this decision was because she wanted her fans to “take her more seriously” rather than projecting the theatrical look she had become known for. After being compared to the similar costume styling of Lady Gaga, Minaj was highly offended and spoke out by saying, “First of all, I’m a rapper. I’m from south Jamaica, Queens. What are the similarities?… Wigs? Every female in this game wears wigs. Over the top costumes? Eh, try again. It’s getting tired now, though, to me.”

3. Angelina Jolie and Jen Rade

In 2012, Jolie took to the red carpet in an iconic black Versace gown that attracted worldwide attention and even its own Twitter account called @AngiesRightLeg. The star was supposedly humiliated by this mockery of her red carpet look and blamed her stylist for the unwanted attention. A source told British magazine Closer that, “She pays her stylist Jen a lot of money to pick things that will make her look drop-dead gorgeous, but she felt the dress swallowed her up and she had to stick her leg, or it looked like she was wearing a bin bag.”

2. Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe

The highly sought after celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe has yet another falling out with one of her clients, but this this time with celebrity icon Nicole Richie. The celeb/stylist feud blew up every tabloid at the time in 2009. Some of the rumours created during this controversy were that Zoe “forced Rachel to take Mexican speed pills to lose weight” among other rumours circling about Richie’s weight loss. Zoe addressed the rumours stating she had never influenced any of her clients to lose weight and revealed their split to TMZ claiming, “After being a good friend to Nicole, we made a mutual decision to sever our working relationship. Changes are inevitable in any business relationship.”

1. The Kardashians and Monica Rose

The most recent celebrity/stylist breakup, however, has proven to be the elusive Kardashian and long-time stylist Monica Rose split that has the entire family involved. Reports have claimed that Khloe, Kim and Kourtney all left Rose “to collaborate with other stylists” and the details behind this change have remained unclear. Losing an entire family of clients seems highly suspicious, especially after it has been noted that all the Kardashians unfollowed Rose on Instagram. Despite the split, Monica Rose has definitely made a name for herself with the Kardashians. She has easily become one of the most influential celebrity stylists and has even been coined as the creator behind the “Kardashian effect” which is the name given to the family’s ability to create sales for any article of clothing they wear.
