While working as an understudy for the musical production of Grease, he met fellow budding actor John Travolta. Eventually the two would make the transition from stage performance to the film adaptation of the musical. Conaway played the beloved bad boy Kenickie, which proved to be an apt role for him. His later struggle with drug abuse ended his time on the TV series Taxi and eventually landed him on the second season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. His lifestyle caught up with him and at the age of 60 he passed away from pneumonia with sepsis, a condition that went untreated for too long due to Conaway’s drug usage. In 2011, at the time of his death, his estimated net worth was $750,000.
