2020 has been a year like no other and many relationships have been challenged and tested throughout the year. While some celebrity couples came out of this year stronger and more connected than ever, others fell flat and realized their partner might not be their best match. 14. Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde

Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde announced they were calling it quits on their ten-year relationship and seven-year engagement on November 13. The couple shares a son Otis and daughter Daisy. “It’s been amicable and they’ve transitioned into a great co-parenting routine,” an inside source shared of the split. “The children are the priority and the heart of the family’s relationship.”

13. Gleb Savchenko and Elena Samodanova

Dancing with the Stars fans were surprised and disappointed when they learned pro dancer Gleb Savchenko and his wife Elena Samodanova were calling it quits under difficult circumstances. “Gleb’s ongoing infidelity and a recent inappropriate relationship has created turmoil in our marriage and absolutely torn our family apart,” Elena Samodanova shared of the messy breakup.

12. Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum

Bachelor nation definitely didn’t expect Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum to split in 2020. The duo was one of The Bachelor‘s longest and most successful relationships.“It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that, after months of separation, Jp and I have amicably decided to go our separate ways,” Hebert wrote of the split. “We created the most beautiful children and shared memories that will never be forgotten. Our differences have taken a toll on our relationship and after years of attempting to repair the damage, we’ve decided that it is in our family’s best interest to create new and separate lives for our children.”

Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers ended their marriage after ten years in 2020. The couple shared news of the split through joint Instagram posts in July. “Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage. As we enter into this next chapter, our children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority.”

10. Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp

Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp may not have been a longtime couple, but fans were certainly disappointed to learn that they had split in 2020. The duo co-starred together on the Netflix film The King but amicably parted ways this past April after a year of dating.

9. Jesse Metcalfe and Cara Santana

Jesse Metcalfe and Cara Santana split after ten years together this past January. The news came after Metcalfe was spotted out with several women, including Hungarian model Livia Pillmann, with whom he was seen holding hands.

8. Christina and Ant Anstead

After nearly two years of marriage, Christina and Ant Anstead opted to part ways in 2020. “Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate. We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority,” Christina wrote. “We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future.”

7. Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich

Dancing with the Stars alum Julianne Hough and former NHL player Brooks Laich called it quits officially this past May. “We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate,” the duo shared in a joint statement. “We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”

6. Mary Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy

Mary Kate Olsen and her longtime partner Olivier Sarkozy seemed to have a hostile divorce this year after five years of marriage. Olsen requested an emergency divorce in early May but was rejected by a New York judge. “We are only accepting essential/emergency matters for filing. The original filing was rejected by the New York County Clerk because they did not follow the essential-matter procedure,” New York courts spokesman Lucian Chalfe shared of the emergency request.

5. Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph

Bachelor couple Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph had a messy public split this past year which led to Randolph filing a restraining order against Underwood. Before the situation turned sour between the two, Colton shared his sentiments about the breakup on Instagram stating, “It’s been a crazy few months to say the least. Cass and I have been doing a lot of self-reflecting. Sometimes people are just meant to be friends—and that’s okay. We both have grown immensely and been through so much together—so this isn’t the end of our story, it’s the start of a whole new chapter for us.”

4. Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler

Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler took everyone by surprise when it was leaked that the couple had opted to part ways after nearly nine years together. “Vanessa and Austin are officially broken up, and Vanessa has been telling those close to her about their breakup,” an insider shared at the time of the quiet split.

Very Cavallari fans were surprised and saddened to hear that Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler were separating after ten years together as a couple. “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” Cavallari wrote in an Instagram post. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of.
