HGTV

Christina El Moussa rose to fame alongside her now ex-husband Tarek El Moussa with their HGTV show Flip or Flop. Since the couple’s divorce, Christina has been moving onto bigger and better as she now has her own spin-off, Christina on the Coast, which will feature her using her design expertise to transform homes in Southern California. Get to know more about Christina with these 8 things you didn’t know about her:

8. Background

She was born on July 9, 1983 in Anaheim, California. Christina grew up in Anaheim Hills with her younger sister, Carly. She began working in real estate right after she graduated college. She got hired on at a real estate firm which is where she met her now estranged husband, Tarek. After working together for a while, Tarek and Christina started dating. “We started our relationship working together,” said Christina.

7. She’s a Fitness Fanatic

Christina El Mousa is really into fitness and being a mom. When she’s not pregnant she’s really into running. She also does a lot of yoga, even while pregnant! “We have a fast paced lifestyle and there is always so much going on but I make working out a priority. I aim for 5 days a week. Working out is my ‘happy pill’ it helps relieve all my tension and anxiety and just makes me feel great,” she said. She once starred in a prenatal yoga video with Lisa Aston, a yoga instructor, and her friend, Cara Clark. The video is available on Amazon and is called “Prenatal Power Yoga.”

6. IVF

Her estranged husband, Tarek El Moussa, was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in 2013 and so Christina had trouble conceiving after they had their first child, Taylor Reese. While he was undergoing treatment she went through two rounds of IVF. Unfortunately, one failed and the other miscarried at eight weeks. They were adamant about adding to their family, so when they switched doctors, they tried one more time. This time was successful, but she had to be extra careful and was put on a week of bed rest and 13 weeks of restricted activity. She wasn’t even able to pick up her daughter, Taylor, while she was pregnant.

5. Her Style

In an interview with Hoss magazine, Christina answered some questions about her personal style. She’s always praised for her fashion choices and her knack for design. Her style icon when she was a kid was Gwen Stefani, but now she looks up to reality stars like Kristin Cavallari.

4. Difficult Birth

Christina recently opened up about how difficult the birth of her second child, Braydon, was. She shared her story on her friend Cara Clark’s blog. “Since my delivery with Taylor was so fast and easy, everyone (including myself) thought this labor and delivery would be the same…but everything was different,” she wrote. According to her, she was late to dilate and so it took five hours of just waiting with strong contractions. “I pushed HARD for 2 hours but his shoulders were stuck and his heart rate kept dropping. In the end, I had to go in for an emergency c-section.”

3. Strict Diet

As previously mentioned, Christina is extremely healthy and fit. She makes a point to lead a healthy and active lifestyle and a large part of that comes from her diet. In 2015, Christina said she refuses to eat fried food or fast food. The only fast food she will ever eat is Subway. Every morning she eats overnight oats for breakfast and for lunch and dinner she eats a lean meat with a veggie and a grain. “I don’t call it a ‘diet’ I just truly love to eat healthy. Eating bad food makes me feel, well, bad. Healthy eating is part of my lifestyle. The only problem with healthy eating is it can be time consuming. That’s why last year we turned to meal prep,” she said.

2. Designer

Christina and Tarek make a pretty good team, at least professionally. The two of them are both real estate sharks, but when it comes to flipping houses, Christina focuses more on the design aspect. With a background in real estate, she’s kind of a self taught interior designer. “Practice and trial error. I like trying different this but since we do flips and appeal to the masses it’s important for me to keep the design fairly simple,” she said. She describes her style as ‘rustic glam:’ “a mix of reclaimed wood and a blingy chandelier. I’ve always been into wallpaper. It adds a girly and vibrant element that I love.”

1. Her New Boyfriend

It was only announced a few days ago that Tarek and Christina El Moussa had split up way back in May 2016, and according to their own statement, they’ve already been seeing other people! “We have both dated other people following the separation, but neither of us is ready to announce anything in terms of another relationship,” they said. TMZ reported that Christina moved on with the family’s contractor, Gary Anderson, who has done work for the family before. According to police reports, Anderson was present when their explosive fight took place and he acted as one of the witnesses who helped fill in the blanks for officers who wanted to know what happened. Since Gary and Christina broke up, Christina had been dating her ex-boyfriend, Doug Spedding, but now is in a relationship with British TV presenter Ant Anstead.
