7. Too Hot to Handle

This past year, the red carpet at the Emmy Awards got incredibly uncomfortable when temperatures reached almost 100 degrees in downtown Los Angeles. Olivia Culpo, (best known as Nick Jonas’ ex-girlfriend) covered the red carpet with Giuliana Rancic and nearly passed out from the heat. As soon as cameras cut away from the Miss USA 2012,  she fell down to the ground. Medics tended to her, and she ended up being okay. She blamed the whole incident on the intense heat.

6. Beyonce’s Fussy Assistant

This assistant should have known better than the fuss too much with Queen Bey’s outfit on the red carpet. Beyonce attended the TIDAL X: 1020 at the Barclays center in New York City in a revealing purple dress that left little to the imagination. In the clip, Beyonce’s assistant is being overly fussy with her dress, trying to fix it into position for her while she is being photographed, but the global singer is caught telling her assistant to “stop it” and she quickly backs off. It’s totally awkward for both parties, but Beyonce handled it with grace and continued on smiling.

5. Travolta Plants a Kiss

Last February at the Oscars, Scarlett Johansson was posing for some pictures on the red carpet when an unsuspecting John Travolta walked by and wrapped his arms around Scarlett to plant a kiss on her cheek. The product was a hilariously awkward photograph that went viral. Scarlett’s face looked like she was less than pleased about his show of affection. However, she later commented that the kiss was totally welcome. But we aren’t convinced because a picture is said to be worth a thousand words!

4. Jennifer Lawrence Falls…Again

Along with Jennifer Lawrence’s continuous rising popularity, we’ve all come to realize that not only is she a great actress, she’s also the world’s clumsiest person! Remember that time she tripped walking up the steps to accept her first Oscar? Well, she did it again. Classic J. Law. This time she did it walking the red carpet at the Oscars. She exited out of her limo and almost immediately stumbled, reached up at the person in front of her for support, but ended up falling regardless. She had to be helped up by her entourage and two policemen. E! News had a live camera feed that caught the whole mishap and it didn’t take long for it to circulate on the internet. We must admit, despite her clumsiness she handles them all with grace.

3. One Direction Snubs

Gigi Hadid and One Direction, or more specifically Harry Styles, have an awkward encounter on the red carpet at the most recent American Music Awards. Giuliana Rancic is in the middle of an interview with One Direction when she spots Gigi Hadid in the background. She calls her up and then proceeds to ask One Direction if they know Gigi or if they ‘want to meet her.’ Gigi proceeds to hug all the boys in One Direction except for Harry Styles, who she offered a handshake. Well, this is awkward. Then Giuliana dismisses the band and begins to interview Gigi. We can only imagine Gigi snubbed Harry on behalf of her squad leader, Taylor Swift who briefly dated Harry Styles.

2. Red Carpet Name Calling

During an interview at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Rashida Jones was told by TNT’s reporter, Danielle Demski that she was very “tan” and “tropical,” and that she looked like she just came back from vacation. Jones had to awkwardly respond that she was ethnic which explains her slightly darker skin tone. forcing Rashida to respond with the more proper terminology that she is “ethnic.” Rashida was a good sport about the whole thing as the reporter burst into laughter afterwards at her mistake and the whole thing was awkwardly laughed off.

1. 50 Shades of Awkward

This has got to be one of the most awkward red carpet interviews to ever go down in history! Dakota Johnson attended the Oscars with her mother, Melanie Griffith. The duo is interviewed by Good Morning America host Lara Spencer, who asks whether Griffith has seen Dakota’s film, 50 Shades of Grey. She responds, “I don’t think I can. I think it would be strange,” but that she knows her daughter is a great actress. Dakota is less than thrilled about her response and said, “All right! You don’t have to see it. Jeez. I’m like, ‘You can see it,’ and you’re just like ‘No.'” The whole exchange is painful to watch and extremely awkward as Dakota reprimands her mother in front of the camera.
