They say that the third time’s the charm. Hopefully that’s true for the pairs on this list who are on marriage number three already, but it’s certainly not true for the stars who have been to the alter more than three times and are on to marriage number four or more. Here are 12 stars who have been married three times or more.
12. Jennifer Lopez – Married 3 Times
Jenny may be from the block, but she’s no stranger to the alter either. In 1997, Jennifer Lopez married her first husband, waiter Ojani Noa. The marriage only lasted into 1998, but has plagued Lopez for years as her ex attempted to write a tell-all book about their time together. After a headline-drooling relationship with P Diddy (or Puff Daddy or Sean Combs) and a break-up prompted by a gun-related scare, Jen hooked-up with her back-up dancer Cris Judd and the two were married soon after in 2001. Again, it wasn’t quite happily-ever-after for Jen and she and Cris were officially divorced in 2003. This didn’t daunt Jennifer from trying again and after a very public relationship, engagement (in 2002, before her marriage to Cris Judd was legally over), and eventual break-up with fellow celebrity Ben Affleck in January of 2004, she quickly courted and married singer and longtime friend Marc Anthony in June of that same year. Rumors of a rebound romance were rampant, but the couple managed to keep things together until 2011 after welcoming two little ones into the world (their divorce become official in 2014). But in the end, Jennifer Lopez’s third marriage wasn’t meant to last, so here’s hoping if she tries for a fourth time, she’ll find her true “til’ death do us part.”

When Tom Cruise gets married, it’s a big deal in Hollywoodland. After meeting fellow actor Nicole Kidman on the set of the racing-movie Days of Thunder, the two were married and quickly began to appear on red-carpets together and all the hottest industry events. The two were married for more than a decade when Tom shocked the world (and Nicole!) with news of his desire for a divorce. They were legally split in 2001 and Nicole went on to marry Keith Urban in what appears to be her happily-ever-after. Tom, on the other hand, was all set to marry Penelope Cruz to the world’s delight when she was given a surprise boot out the door and Tom moved on to wed Katie Holmes in 2006. Their tabloid-titillating matrimony lasted until 2012 and has left the mega-star single since. But did you know Tom Cruise was married BEFORE Nicole Kidman? He was indeed! Like, right before Nicole Kidman. A young Tom married slightly-older actress Mimi Rogers in 1987 and the two were together for three years, marking Tom’s first red-carpet parading marriage. However, the same year his divorce from Mimi was legalized, he met Nicole Kidman and the paparazzi had a new favourite pair to poach.

Demi Moore’s latest marriage certainly caught the public’s attention and that’s not hard to believe when you remember that in 2005 she married super-hot, super-popular actor Ashton Kutcher. The giddy groom was quite a few years younger than the blushing bride (15 if you’re interested in the exact number). In fact, he is closer in age to her daughter than he is to Demi herself. But age is just a number when it comes to love…but what is also a number is the amount of years the couple managed to make it work and that was only six. The pair separated in 2011 and Ashton filed for divorce in 2012. Before Ashton, though, Demi was married to another Hollywood super-star Bruce Willis. The pair had a longer relationship than Demi’s latest attempt, marrying in 1987 and staying together until 2000. But before Bruce, she had another husband. In 1980, Demi Guynes married Freddy Moore (who was 12 years her senior) and took his last name as her own, which gave her the famous moniker she has today. The marriage only lasted for five years, but the name endures.

Kate Winslet hit big-time fame in the late ’90’s when she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the blockbuster movie Titanic. The accolades were plentiful and often for the English star and she didn’t just catch the eye (and hearts) of audiences. She also became the center-focus for assistant director Jim Threapleton whom she married just one year after the film in 1998. Their union only lasted until 2001 and, two years later, Kate tried again when she wed director Sam Mendes. The pair were married in 2003 but, again, the marital bliss didn’t last and they split for good in 2011. Not one to give up on ever-lasting love, Kate met and married the nephew of super-entrepreneur Richard Branson in 2012 and became Mrs. Ned Rocknroll (seriously, that’s his name). Why she didn’t change her own name to Kate Rocknroll or Kate Winslet-Rocknroll the minute she had the chance is the only great mystery here.

Pamela Anderson made her mark on the sandy beaches of Baywatch, but she’s also made her mark in the marriage department as well. The Playboy model and actress married rocker Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe fame in 1995. The relationship was a rocky one with reports of domestic abuse and Pamela left Tommy and divorced him three years later in 1998. In 2006, Pam tried again when she married another musician and walked down the aisle to say “I Do” with Kid Rock. The marriage was short-lived and they broke-up in 2007. Pamela Anderson didn’t wait long to put on another ring when she married Rick Saloman in 2007. You might recognize his name from his past marriage to Shannen Doherty (which lasted a whopping nine months) or his famous performance in the Paris Hilton sex-tape (yeah, he was the skeevy dude with the camera). Pamela’s marriage to Rick was another blip on the matrimony screen and the two split up in 2008. Buuuut…in 2014, Pamela Anderson announced that she had gotten married for the fourth time in a secret ceremony. The lucky groom was none other than Rick Saloman himself, now the proud holder of the title hubby #3 AND #4. Rumor has it that these two were recently granted another divorce.

One can only imagine what it’s like to be married to Charlie Sheen with his addiction issues, strange behaviour, and harem of “goddesses” that flank him from time to time. Three women can actually attest to that reality as the former Mrs. Sheens. The actor’s first attempt at wedded bliss only last a year when he married Donna Peele in 1995 and the two split in 1996. Charlie took his time before heading to the alter again and it wasn’t until 2002 that he married actress Denise Richards. The two had a rocky relationship with reports of domestic abuse and Denise left Sheen in 2006. He didn’t wait as long this time to get hitched again and in 2008 he married Brooke Mueller. The relationship didn’t seem to go any better than his marital attempt with Denise Richards and Brooke ended the marriage in 2011. You’d think that Charlie might clue in that the married life isn’t for him, but that didn’t seem to be the case. In 2014 he became engaged to Brett Rossi; however, he called off the engagement citing needing to focus more on his children.

Drew Barrymore is pretty private when it comes to her personal life these days, so you may not be aware that she has in fact been married three times. The romance-loving star first attempted wedded bliss back in 1994 when she married Los Angeles bar owner Jeremey Thomas. The young actress was only 19 at the time, which may have contributed to the fact that the marriage lasted less than two months. Yup, you read that right. They didn’t even make it two full months. But that didn’t dampen Drew’s spirits when it came to matrimony and in 2001 she married weirdo comedian Tom Green. The two shared a whacky sense of humour (and he even made a tiny appearance in the Charlie’s Angels movie she starred in), but it wasn’t meant to last forever. In fact, it lasted less than a year. They married in July of 2001 and filed for divorce in December of that same year. Drew took another long pause in the marriage department, dating funny men like Justin Long, but in 2012 she said “I do” again and this time it looks like it might stick. For three years she’s been happily married to art advisor Will Kopelman and if the smile on her face is any indication, it’s one happy marriage.

Halle Berry is another famous actor who has suffered through not only failed marriages, but also abuse and betrayal at the hands of her husbands. From 1993 to 1996, Halle was married to MLB baseball player David Justice, but the marriage was not a happy one. Physical abuse forced Halle to leave the marriage and even take out a restraining order against Justice. She admits to feeling worthless after the relationship ended and even contemplated suicide. (Horrible side note: Another of her past partners – reportedly a well-known actor – hit her so hard that she is partially deaf in one ear. Scary stuff!) Managing to move on, she married singer and R&B producer Eric Benet in 2001. The pair appeared to be deeply in love until it was revealed that he had been cheating on Halle and was having multiple affairs. He blamed his behaviour on sex-addiction and even sought out treatment, but it wasn’t enough to save the marriage. After her second divorce, Halle Berry made it known that she didn’t see herself getting married again, but in 2013 French actor Olivier Martinez changed that state of mind. The pair wed and have been together ever since, hopefully this time fulfilling Halle’s happily-ever-after.

The Beverly Hills 90210 star is on marriage number three and it certainly hasn’t been a smooth road to the alter. While still younger and firmly in the public eye, Shannen Doherty married Ashley Hamilton in a spur-of-the-moment decision after only knowing each other for a whopping two weeks. Love at first sight? Not so much! Shannen filed for divorce from Ashley after only five months of marriage. Perhaps knowing her fiancée a little better might lead to long-time wedded bliss. Not so much! In 2002, Shannen tried the married thing again when she walked down the aisle and said “I do” to Rick Saloman (yup, that guy). It was another marriage for Shannen that lasted less than a year, but this time she made it an entire nine months before having the marriage totally annulled. Not one to give up easily, Shannen married her current husband, Kurt Iswarienko in 2011; however, the pair met while he was still married and their hook-up resulted in Shannen being branded as a homewrecker.

Angelina Jolie’s marriages have done their share to overshadow any actual acting she’s done throughout the years. Famously hooking-up with equally famous and intriguing figures, the headlines just can’t get enough. Back in 1996, Angelina married hubby number one after meeting him on the set of Hackers. That’s right, Angelina Jolie married co-star and current Sherlock Jonny Lee Miller. The cutie “alt” couple only lasted for three years, but it still delights fans when they remember this tiny trivia tidbit. However, it was Angelina’s next husband that made every tabloid headline. In 2000, she married Billy Bob Thornton and the husband and wife embarked on three years of blood games, sex games and creeping out the public-at-large. When Angelina decided she was ready to become a mom and began proceedings to adopt her first little one, Billy Bob balked and the relationship dissolved. When Mr. and Mrs. Smith came along, Angelina and co-star Brad Pitt would hook-up in a relationship that had the rumour-mills spouting about his break-up from Jennifer Anniston and how and when his relationship with Angelina began. Whatever the case, the two mega-stars have been successfully together and increasing the size of their abundant family for years before finally tying the knot in 2014 at their children’s request.

Kim Kardashian may make headlines these days as Mrs. Kanye West, but that’s not how she started her matrimonial path. Back in 2000, Kim was married to Damon Thomas in a marriage that lasted a full four years. However, it wasn’t a relationship that lasted long in the memories of audiences and in 2011 Kim decided to stir things up a bit. She very (very!) publically married NBA player Kris Humphries (presumably because he fit in with the K-named family). But just 72 DAYS later Kim filed for divorce stunning Humphries and prompting him to sue her with the accusation that the marriage had been a sham and fraud conjured up by Kim for publicity. It took until 2013 to finalize the divorce of the 72 day marriage, reminding the public that getting into a marriage is a heck of a lot easier than getting out of one.

Today’s celebrities might think they’re the masters of multiple marriages, but they don’t have anything on the celebrities of the past. Elizabeth Taylor, undoubtedly one of the classic queens of Hollywood, was married eight times to seven different men including Paris and Nicky Hilton’s grand-uncle. (Creepy side-note: Hilton himself had an affair with his step-mother, Zsa Zsa Gabor, in 1944…EW!). Other old-school stars who have walked down the aisle more times that you’d think. You could count include Jerry Lee Lewis who was married seven times (including his first marriage when he was only 14 and his bride 17; his second marriage occurred 23 days before his first divorce was final; his controversial third marriage was to his 13-year-old cousin when he was 22 and also took place before his second divorce was finalized prompting a second ceremony), Mickey Rooney who’s been married eight times, Lana Turner who was also in the eight-marriages club, Larry King at eight times saying “I do”, and Zsa Zsa Gabor (yes, the same one) who was married nine times.
