11 Things You Didn’t Know About Blake Lively

There’s definitely something about Blake Lively. She’s got the body of a supermodel, the beauty of a starlet and a whole lot of talent to back it all up. She’s also pretty interesting – in a rather wholesome way. She’s the kind of woman that most women can relate to and all little girls can look up to. Still, the guys can’t get any enough of her. We all know a fair bit about Blake already – she dated Leonardo DiCaprio, but married Ryan Reynolds and she has two daughters, James and Ines. There’s still a lot more to know, so here are 11 things that you probably don’t know about everyone’s favorite blonde.

11. Show Business Family

Blake Lively was born into a show business family. Her father, Ernie, has had a long career as a character actor; her mother, Elaine, is a talent manager; and her older sibling, Eric, and half siblings, Robyn, Jason and Lori, have all dabbled in acting.

10. Southern Baptist

The Green Lantern actress and her four older siblings/half siblings were raised as Southern Baptists, but her parents weren’t strict about it. Her grandparents, however, were strict Southern Baptists and raised their children and grandchildren to be strict when it came to love.

9. Interested in Higher Education

Blake Lively initially didn’t show any interest in acting and was instead interested in attending Stanford University. Her mother even enrolled Lively in school early to give her a head start. She started kindergarten three years early! “When I was only 3 years old, my mom enrolled me in the first grade. My older brother was supposed to start school, but he didn’t want to go alone, so my mom told them I was 6 since I was so tall. But after a few weeks, they said they would have to put me in mentally disabled classes because I wasn’t up to pace with the rest of the kids. They thought that I was slow because all I wanted to do was sleep while the other kids were doing their projects. [laughs] So my mom took me out of school,” she told Marie Claire.

8. Started Auditioning in Junior High School

During the summer between her junior and senior year of high school, her brother, Eric, asked his agent to send her to some auditions and it was during one of these auditions that she landed the role of Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

7. She Doesn’t Have a Stylist

The former Gossip Girl star doesn’t have a stylist and she doesn’t want one. “I’ve always loved fashion. That’s why I don’t use a stylist,” Lively told Marie Claire. “It’s such an expression of self.”

6. She Loves to Prank People

Blake Lively is a total prankster. When her boyfriend at the time, Penn Badgley, was wondering where he got his musical talents from (cause he obviously didn’t get them from his parents), she convinced him that he was adopted and that Steven Tyler was his biological father. “So I thought who is musically talented? Who has lots of kids? Steven Tyler! So I thought, I’m gonna say that he’s your (Badgley’s) father. So I created a fake email address the night before April Fools, without him realizing it was the night before April Fools, and sent him an email saying, ‘I had a child with Steven Tyler. I live in Maryland – where he was born – I’m an English professor. I wanna reach out to you and I’d like to have a relationship with you now that you’re of age,’” she told David Letterman.

5. She’s Pretty Straight-Laced

She doesn’t drink and she’s never done drug, yet she has played drug addicts. “Time and again I play drug addicts with sexual issues. I never knew I had a dark side, but this is clearly where I get it out of my system,” she told Marie Claire. “I don’t drink. I’ve never tried a drug.”

4. You Won’t Catch Her Breaking a Sweat

She doesn’t exercise. “I don’t exercise, but I will start one day. I’m 24 now, so I guess I’ve been very, very lucky that it doesn’t show that I like to eat. I should probably start working out I guess!” she told Melbourne’s Herald Sun.

3. She Loves Guitar Hero

Lively loves to play the video game Guitar Hero. “If a guy can play Guitar Hero with me and sit at home and watch the Food Network and read magazines with me, that’s good. I don’t think there are many guys that’s fun for. It’s a lot to ask,” she told Cosmopolitan. Hopefully this means that Ryan Reynolds loves Guitar Hero and the Food Network as much as she does!

2. She’s Spent a lot of Time at Disneyland with Her Mom

Growing up, she spent a lot of time at Disneyland and with her mom. “I kind of feel like I grew up at Disneyland,” Blake told Marie Claire. “My mom would take me there twice a week. I did well in school, so I guess my mom just wanted to have some extra time to bond with me. Sometimes, when I was older, she’d keep me out till one in the morning. We only stayed out late on weekends. We’d get a hotel room and then go to Denny’s, drink coffee, and talk for hours.”

1. She’s Hasn’t Dated Much

The Savages star has only had four boyfriends. “People like to draw parallels between my life and the scandalous stories on Gossip Girl. I dress the same as my character, so they think, she lives this life on and off set. I recently shared how many boyfriends I’ve had [four], and people were like, “That’s impossible!” But it’s true. I’ve been with very few people. If I’m not with somebody who really excites or inspires me, then I’d rather be by myself,” she told Marie Claire.
