Is Angelina Jolie beautiful or terrifying? It’s probably wise to argue that she’s terrifyingly beautiful. Her beauty is truly intimidating, regardless of having a heart and persona which comes across as buttery soft. Yeah. She’s was that girl growing up. The girl who got a lot of guff for being so beautiful, when all she really wanted to was to be just like the rest of the kids.
In the long run, Angelina’s beauty has paid dividends. Add to her beauty a wealth of acting talent, and it’s no wonder she has long commanded the box office power that she has. But… she is still intimidating. Her beauty is kind of scary. It only made sense that The Walt Disney Company cast Angelina Jolie as Maleficent.
For those of you in need of a little brush up: Maleficent was the Mistress of All Evil, or The Embodiment of Evil who appeared in the 1959 version of Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. We all know that any “Mistress of All Evil” would need a particular amount of beauty to remain appealing, as opposed to repulsive, so Angelina serves as perfection in casting.
For the poor children who were screen testing for roles in Maleficent, Angelina did not seem beautiful. She was terrifying. So imposing, and so intimidating, that many children cried when introduced to Angelina in costume. You never thought of that being a problem, did you? Oh, yes. Many casting directors, directors, producers and production companies have learned the hard way with child actors.
