At 54 years old Sean Penn has blazed a path all on his own in Hollywood as perhaps the greatest actor of his generation which is noted by Esquire UK magazine when they interviewed him for their March 2015 issue.
Given his 35 years in the industry and his incredible life experiences there are many things Penn could tell in an interview, however what many people are most interested in right now is his relationship with actress Charlize Theron, 39.
While there has been no confirmation or a ring, it seems that the pair who had been friends for quite awhile before beginning a relationship are engaged, which would be the third marriage for Penn who had two previous high profile relationships, first to Madonna from 1985-1989 and then actress Robin Wright from 1996-2010.
Penn however explained he wouldn’t see it as a third marriage, “You say I’ve been married twice before, but I’ve been married under circumstances where I was less informed than I am today. So I wouldn’t even consider it a third marriage, I’d consider it a first marriage on its own terms if I got married again. I mean, I like the tradition.”
He was also very candid about his relationship with Theron which is surprising for a guy like Penn who doesn’t seem the type to share emotions.
“Yeah, I’m surprised to be in love. Lot of reasons. I’m self-proclaimed bad at mathematics but I can do two plus two: 53 years old [at the time they began dating] plus finally beginning to figure out why you haven’t been happy in a single relationship? It could seem too late. But to run into somebody now who you care about is a much more passionate, deeper, truer and — God! — a much happier feeling. It’s a lot more romantic and a lot more fulfilling to be in a relationship and to think you’re a good person within it.”
Although there is no information about possible wedding plans, Penn and Theron are solidifying their family as Penn has filed to legally adopt Theron’s 3-year old son Jackson.
