No, Sarah Jessica Parker’s new show Divorce is not about what happens after her eventual marriage to Big on Sex and the City.

But she is coming back to TV after 10 years since the end of Sex and the City with the new show Divorce being ordered to series by HBO on Thursday April 17 which Parker will both star in and executive produce.

Once again set in New York, the half hour comedy will focus on a very long and drawn out divorce between herself and her husband Robert played by Thomas Haden Church after she reassesses her life but soon realizes a fresh start really isn’t all that easy.

The show will also have a bit of a Sex and the City vibe to it though as Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam will also star as Parker’s best friends who she turns to during this odd time in her life.

With the pilot episode already shot, the rest of the first season is expected to shoot this year while the show will premiere on HBO in 2016.

Since the end of Sex and the City’s TV run, Parker has stuck to film work including The Family Stone and Failure to Launch and of course the Sex and the City feature films.
