Ricki Lake has revealed that her ex-husband, Christian Evans, has died.
The actress took to Instagram and Facebook to post an emotional message which revealed Evans passed away after a long struggle with bipolar disorder. “It is with a heavy heart that I share that my beloved soulmate Christian Evans has passed. The world didn’t understand this man, but I did. He succumbed to his life long struggle with bipolar disorder,” she wrote.
She continued on by offering support to others who have lost loved ones to mental illness and state that she is a greater person for having known Evans. “For anyone who has ever lost a family member or a friend to mental illness, my heart goes out to you. I am a greater person for having known him and spent the past 6 and a half years of my life with him. He was a man of love and what mends my broken heart today is knowing that he is finally at peace and his spirit is free. Rest in peace, my love,” she wrote.
Lake was married to Evans for three years between 2012 to 2015. In a whirlwind romance, they got engaged in August 2011 and eloped on April 8, 2012. However, their marriage was short lived as the two announced their separation on Oct. 9, 2014 and Lake filed for divorce a week later. When they first started dating in the summer of 2010, she told People she was dating a jewelry designer who was a “normal guy.” “We met through my best friend. He’s a nobody but he’s somebody to me. He’s everything to me,” she said.
Our thoughts and prayer got out to Evans’ family during this time.
