Well, this certainly isn’t going to do much for the already out of control egos of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, after the couple and world famous celebrities were both named on TIME magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential People.
“In our annual Time 100 issue, we tell 100 stories of individual influence. But taken together, these stories are an anthem to interaction, the convergence that occurs when a good idea goes viral. The technology that connects us also connects our worlds, of art and science and business and politics. So when we were debating whom approach to write for this issue, we looked for people who could speak to their subject’s influence in all its dimensions. Every year we hope the TIME 100 will introduce you to influential people you might not have met before and encourage you to find out more about them,” Editor Nancy Gibbs stated.
In the issue the influential people are divided into categories of Titans, Pioneers, Artists, Leaders and Icons, and equally impressive people are chose to write about them.
West landed in the Titans category where SpaceX founder and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk wrote about the rapper superstar, “Kanye West will be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list. The dude doesn’t believe in false modesty, and he shouldn’t. Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity—he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut (‘Thru the Wire’)—got him to where he is today.”
West’s famous wife, Kim Kardashian also lands on the Titans list as “The first lady of #fame,” with a write up by Martha Stewart who tries to answer just why Kim is as famous as she is.
Many other celebrity names appear under the Artists headline including Chris Pratt, Amy Schumer and Tim McGraw while Taylor Swift lands herself in the Icons list with the likes of Pope Francis and Diane von Furstenberg.
