Long-time TV veteran Kelsey Grammer is passing the torch over to daughter Kandace Greer Grammer, 22 (who goes by Greer) who was recently named Miss Golden Globe 2015 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The title is given to a child of a celebrity who then helps out in handing out the awards during the Golden Globe ceremony.

Past winners include Fifty Shades actress Dakota Johnson, who is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Rumer Willis daughter to Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, as well as Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s daughter Sosie Bacon.

Unlike most of the previous title winners however, Greer has already found her own fame through her portrayal as the ultra Christian and naive, Lissa, on MTV’s hit show Awkward.

In an interview with People magazine the actress said she couldn’t believe it went HFPA contacted her to tell her she had been chosen, “I screamed and I jumped up and down. I was just so happy when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association reached out to me this year. It was such a dream come true.”

Just as excited as Greer were her parents, Kelsey Grammer and ex-wife Barrie Buckner, who she informed immiediately, “I called them separately and my mom was over the moon and I had to tell her not to tell anybody, because I know she would have called everyone right off the bat, and same with my dad. They’re so proud. They’re so excited to see me on stage. I can’t wait,” she gushed.

It seems stardom has always been destined for the blonde beauty who just graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in theater and was named after Hollywood 1940’s actress Greer Grammer.

“I am flattered to have been chose by the HFPA for this year’s Miss Golden Globe. It’s truly an honor to be included in this experience that so many incredible men and women have been a part of,” Grammer said in a statement.

The 72nd Annual Golden Globes airs on January 11, 2015 on NBC hosted once again by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
