Kelly Clarkson has no tolerance for body shaming and made that clear through her response to a body shaming tweet during the Fourth of July celebrations

When someone tweeted at her “You’re fat,” Clarkson responded by tweeting, “…and still f–ing awesome.” She made it obvious that she simply doesn’t care what people think about her weight. Fans who witnessed the encounter sent Clarkson praise for her confident response and showered her in memes, in typical Twitter fashion.

Unfortunately, the 35-year old singer has faced criticism about her weight for years. In 2015, she responded to the hate and opened up to Ellen DeGeneres. “I love how people think that’s new — like, ‘Welcome to the past 13 years,’” she said. “Yeah, I was the biggest girl on [American Idol], too. And I wasn’t big, but people would call me big because I was the biggest one on Idol, and I’ve kind of always gotten that.”

Clarkson has proved, however, that she doesn’t allow the hate to get under her skin and couldn’t be bothered by what others have to say about her. “It’s like, you’re just who you are. We are who we are. Whatever size, and it doesn’t mean that we’re gonna be that forever,” she said.
