Hollywood has seen some dramatic and downright strange feuds and rivalries but the one between longtime Daily Show host Jon Stewart, 57, and WWE wrestler Seth Rollins has to be one of the strangest.
In early February Stewart announced he was retiring from his Comedy Central show after 16 years with the gig much to the dismay of a huge fan base, however there is one big guy who is not a fan- Seth Rollins.
After the announcement Rollins went on WWE’s Monday Night Raw to announce he could do anything he wanted in the future including taking over as host of The Daily Show to “make that thing actually wathchable,” slamming Stewart.
Surprisingly Stewart responded with his own verbal smackdown telling Rollins he “messed with the wrong guy” and “This is the biggest mistake you’ve ever made, coming after The Daily Show!” The wrestler then made a surprise visit on the show, challenging Stewart to show up on Raw and on Monday March 2, he did, much to the surprise of Rollins who went on a rant about the host being a coward.
Stewart showed up and didn’t back down either telling Rollins, “How could I make a fool out of a man dressed like a SWAT team stripper with Lady Gaga’s hair? How could I do that? I’m not here to do that. I’m your friend! You may be stronger than me, you may be better looking than me, you may be taller than me, you may be able to lift your arms above your shoulders – which I used to be able to do but can’t- but let me tell you this: I have something you’ll never have and that’s respect.”
The enraged Rollins aggressively grabbed Stewart but quickly got distracted by his rival wrestler Randy Orton and the cunning Stewart used the opportunity to kick the angry wrestler right where it hurts.
While Rollins may not be the best choice to replace Stewart on The Daily Show, perhaps the comedy central host is ready to give up his desk job for a more physical job?
