In one of Hollywood’s strangest feuds, actress and lifestyle website CEO Gwyneth Paltrow, 42, has taken on the all-time home and lifestyle guru Martha Stewart, 73.
The feud has been simmering for quite awhile between the two domestic queens but Martha really ignited the fire when she criticized Paltrow and her lifestyle brand Goop by stating, “She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
Paltrow however didn’t take the criticism too hard when she responded almost a month later, “I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition. At this point in my life I don’t take it personally.”
Now the feud is almost turning humorous as the pair are now using their lifestyle brands to diss each other through recipes.
In her October issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine, Stewart included a recipe for the Thanksgiving holiday that she coyly titled, “Consciously Coupled.”
The title, of course, was another jab at Paltrow after she and husband of ten years, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, announced their separation in March 2014 stating they had “decided to consciously uncouple.”
Now that the feud has turned more “Mean Girls”, with shots being fired more subtly, Paltrow has returned the obvious jab with a recipe of her own on her website Goop.
The recipe lists a new dessert titled the “Jailbird Cake” which pokes fun at Stewart’s now infamous stint in prison for fraud and obstruction of justice for insider trading.
Inside the cake has layers that create vertical chocolate lines on vanilla icing creating a noticeable “behind bars” look.
We can only imagine what’s next in this ultimate passive-aggressive recipe battle, maybe Martha Stewart Living will create a “Divorce is a Coldplay” appetizer?
