When George Clooney, one of the longest running most eligible bachelors in Hollywood, confirmed that one lucky lady had finally tied him down everyone wondered just who she could be, but as it turns out he’s the real winner in the relationship.
Since marrying Clooney, highly respected human rights lawyer Amal Clooney (Alamuddin) has been thrust into the spotlight and, given the seriousness of her job, is clearly not thrilled by the glitz and glam of Hollywood.
While she is gorgeous, Amal’s leading feature is obviously her intelligence and even Clooney knows he married up.
The A-lister went solo to the SeriousFun Children’s Network Hosts Gala in NYC on March 2 where he ended up praising his amazingly brilliant wife after getting a little confused with his own speech.
The event was to recognize the philanthropic work of the late Paul Newman, and Clooney got up and began his speech talking about Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp which he started for children battling severe illnesses.
“Since 1988, these camps have [helped] over half a million sick kids and their families from over five hun…from over 50 countries, not 500…that would be too many,” Clooney said before getting a pensive look on his face and stating, “There aren’t that many…Are there 500 countries?…My wife’s the smart one.”
The dashing actor finished his speech with poise but we can rest assured that Amal will have no problem educating her famous husband on the different countries of the world – and how many there are, of course.
