On Tuesday, May 10 the death of former Bachelor contestant Alexa “Lex” McAllister was revealed.

McAllister appeared on Jake Pavelka’s season in 2010 and passed away on February 16, 2016 at the age of 31 in what has now been ruled as a drug overdose, according to the coroner’s report obtained by E! News. Her tragic death was officially ruled as a suicide by “acute intoxication by the combined effects of amlodipine and acetaminophen in the manner of suicide.”

McAllister’s death occurred after she was taken to hospital after police received a 911 call about a prescription medication overdose. At first she was though to be in stable condition, but unfortunately her body shut down, and she passed away after the decision was made by family to withdraw life support.

Although Alexa was eliminated in the first week of Pavelka’s season of the Bachelor, after the news broke, he took to his Twitter to share his condolences, writing, “I’m so sad to hear about Alexa. Such a beautiful girl. My heart breaks for her family. Covering them in prayer during this rough time.” Sadly, McAllister is not the only former Bachelor/Bachelorette alum to commit suicide. In August 2013, season 14 contestant Gia Allemand hung herself and in 2010 Julien Hug shot himself.
