Fans of the cult classic show The X-Files believed in their favorite show so much, that Fox has confirmed the show will be coming back for a special six-episode event series and making it even better the original Agent Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) are returning as well.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Duchovny revealed that he is “excited” about reprising his iconic character 13 years after the show’s finale aired. “It’s going to be strange and fun,” he revealed of the mini-series.

“Thankfully, Gillian will be there, and we’ll both be in positions of like, ‘Are we really here doing this again? Are we really saying those words again?’ At least we’ll have each other.”

Duchovny at 54 also revealed what to expect from the characters and what has changed, if anything at all. “I’m essentially unchanged, character-wise. Physically, I’m obviously different!,” he joked but added he thinks they will be able to bring something different to the roles now as well.

“I think Gillian would probably agree that we’re both better at what we do. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do with the characters now. You go back to the original pilot, and it’s like, ‘Wow, we’ve been doing this a while!'”

Although the return of the show will be short-lived with only six episodes, anticipation is building with the first episode set to air in January 2016.
